GASTROENTEROLOGY AND HEPATOLOGY DEPARTMENT
Our gastroenterology department as equipped with advanced examination and treatment equipment offers services to patients. Interventions are successfully performed by the state-of-the-art technology devices.
In the Gastroenterology and Hepatology Department, esophagus, stomach, duodenum, small intestine, colon and anus diseases are diagnosed and treated. Also, glad bladder and tract diseases are covered. The second major diseases covered by the Gastroenterology and Hepatology Department are liver diseases. This department deals with diagnosis and treatment of diseases of these organs such as ulcer, gastritis, jaundice, hepatitis, cirrhosis, spastic colon, gallbladder stones and inflammation, ulcerative colitis, Crohn’s disease, constipation, diarrhea, rectal and oral bleeding, hemorrhoids, digestive system cancers. In brief, digestive system organs and diagnosis and treatment of the diseases related with them are included in the field of Gastroenterology and Hepatology.
Digestive system health is important for the whole body. Poor functioning of digestive system leads to toxicity in certain body systems due to insufficient intake of food or accumulation of harmful substances accumulated in the body. Thanks to the developments in medical technology in the 20th century, it has been possible to examine the digestive system in detail and thus to develop many treatment methods.
The main symptoms of gastroenterological diseases include heartburn, pyrosis, regurgitation, stomach ache, burning in the middle of throax, nausea, vomiting, persistent cough, intolerance to certain foods, diarrhea, constipation, bleeding in the mouth, bleeding in the anus, defecation problems, changed defecation habits, yellowing of skin and eyes, itching and sometimes weakness and weight loss.
Endoscopic procedures are used in the diagnosis and treatment of these diseases. In the course of all procedures, the patient is given intravenous sedation medication upon request to prevent patient from feeling pain during these procedures.
